Turn off the Office 2000 Clipboard

To turn off the Office clipboard, you must add a value to your registry file.  To make this change you can download the file below to your computer or edit the registry directly using RegEdit.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you backup your registry and/or computer before performing this modification!

Download the file

  1. Click here to download the file:   TurnOffOffice2000Clipboard.reg
  2. Save the file on your desktop.
  3. When the download is finished, double-click on the file to install the new key into the registry.

To edit the registry using RegEdit:

  1. Click the Start button and click Run.
  2. Type "regedit" and then click Open.
  3. Go to the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Common\General
  4. From the menu, choose Edit:New:DWORD.
  5. Rename New Value #1 to AcbControl
  6. Highlight AcbControl and from the Edit menu, choose Modify.
  7. Change the value from 0 to 1 and hit OK.
  8. Exit the registry.
